Estate Planning Workshops
This is an important event to put on your annual church calendar - especially in 2010. This year there is no estate tax! But if Congress does not act, the tax will return in 2011. There is much confusion, concern and conversation regarding this unusual state of affairs. (And, of course, there are new rules.) This is an opportunity to engage your congregation with timely, objective and important information.
Workshops are a free service provided by the Foundation for local churches and United Methodist-related institutions and organizations in Missouri. The workshops can be tailored for a particular group or topic. In general, the workshops offer an overview of basic estate planning issues and suggest ideas for charitable giving that can complement other planning considerations. Lots of free printed materials relating to the topics are provided. Workshops generally last about an hour and can be scheduled at your convenience.

- Gift Annuities and Charitable Remainder Trusts
Resourcing Ministry
RM is a customized seminar designed for all the key leaders of your congregation. The primary focus is the financial life of your church - budgets, giving, stewardship, fundraising - how money and ministry are connected and talked about as part of Christian discipleship individually and as a congregation.
Topics include:
- Theology of Stewardship
- Basic concepts of fundraising
- Customized analysis of your church budget
- Review and analysis of your church's giving patterns
- Operations, programs and mission
- Endowments and planned giving
- Communications
The program culminates with the creation of a checklist of specific action items. The program generally lasts about five hours and can be scheduled as two sessions or a single Saturday morning session.
